Executive Principal Recruitment Committee - Update #3

27 May 2025

The Executive Principal recruitment committee met on Tuesday, the 20th of May.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the updated schedule for the recruitment process and to agree on the candidates to take to the screening round of the recruitment process.

  • We discussed the candidates who applied for the role but didn't hold a current teaching registration.
  • The person we recruit is required to hold a current teacher registration when we offer the job.
  • The Commissioner reminded the Committee that the size and complexity of the school requires an experienced principal and leader.
  • The group discussed conflicts of interest, which members must declare before the next meeting.
  • The Committee voted on candidates to take to the next phase
(Note: Dr Denise Powell, Commissioner Mike Rondel and the recruitment company did not participate in the vote; it was entirely the Committee's decision.)
  • The next step in the process is to screen the candidates to get a deeper understanding of their experiences and why they have decided to apply for the role.

Note: this is not an official interview; it is a 'screening' process about finding facts about the person.
