Executive Principal Recruitment Committee - Update #4
14 Jul 2025
The Executive Principal recruitment committee met on Wednesday, 25 June.
- The first thing the Committee did was address the change to the minutes that had been made after the last meeting. The Commissioner clarified the reasons for the change.
- After an official information act (OIA) request, the Ministry of Education (MoE) could not identify a written record of this statement and therefore asked that the sentence be changed to reflect this.
- The school changed the wording as requested by the MoE.
- The video minutes and website were updated to reflect the change requested by the MoE.
- The Committee were updated and informed of the change.
It is important to note that this change does not affect the recruitment process at all, and the Committee agree that the school needs an experienced principal and leader to fill the role.
2. The purpose of this meeting was for the Committee to decide who they wanted to take to the interview stage of the recruitment process
- The Committee discussed the four candidates that had been shortlisted through a voting process in the last meeting.
- Decipher Group provided a summary of the candidates and provided their recommendation for each.
- The Committee voted to take 2 of the four candidates through to the interview stage.
Note: Dr Denise Powell, Commissioner Mike Rondel and the recruitment company did not participate in the vote; it was entirely the Committee’s decision.
Action: Both candidates will travel to Auckland for face-to-face interviews.
