We would like to let you know that we are expecting an article in the media this week about the schools yet to enter the Ministry of Education’s Christchurch Rebuild Programme.

As we are yet to enter the programme, we will be mentioned in the article, and we want to ensure you have the right context in relation to the article and the process we have been working through with the Ministry.

As part of the broader rebuild programme, the Ministry has recently completed a proposal on what co‑locating Ko Taku Reo, BLENNZ (Blind and Low Vision Education Network NZ), and the Southern Health School could look like. This is not a decision; it is an option that would need to be carefully considered by us.

Once we receive the proposal, we will share that with the school community so that your input can be considered before any decisions are made.

We will continue to keep you informed as this work progresses and will work closely with the Ministry to ensure we are comfortable with any plans, and that they reflect the needs of our school and community.
