If you are listed on the Electoral Roll for the Ko Taku Reo - Deaf Education New Zealand Parent Board Election and this include the opportunity to nominate yourself or someone else to stand as a candidate for the election. Nominations are open for the election of 6 parent representatives to the Ko Taku Reo - Deaf Education New Zealand School Board.

Schooled Election Pilot has been appointed by the board as the returning officer for this election.

Nominating Yourself

As you are on the electoral roll, you may nominate yourself and do not need to get someone else to nominate you.

The easiest way for you to complete your nomination is with the button above. For other methods, additional options are listed below. If you would like a nomination form in another language, please contact the Returning Officer.

Only one nomination will be accepted per candidate.

If you complete your nomination on the Election Pilot website, you do not need to send in a nomination form.

If you do not complete your nomination on the Election Pilot website you will need to return a completed nomination form. to the Returning Officer before nomination close either by email or by returning it to the school office. Please ensure both parts of the nomination form are completed.

Information on who is NOT eligible to be a board member is available on page 2 of the nomination form, as well as inside the online form.

Candidate Statement

All candidates are able to submit an optional candidate statement of up to 400 words and a photo. Candidate statements MUST be received no later than 26 Sep 2025 at noon so that it can be sent to voters with the voting papers.
The returning officer may remove or edit any part of the candidate's statement if it exceeds 400 words or is offensive or defamatory.

Nominating someone else

As you are on the electoral roll, you may nominate someone else who is not on the electoral roll.

To nominate someone else you need to complete the official nomination form.

The nomination form is available in Te Reo Māori and some other languages. If you would like a nomination form in another language, please contact the Returning Officer.

You will need to complete the nominator section the official nomination form. The person you are nominating will need to complete the candidate section. Make sure both parts of the forms are complete and signed.

Completed nomination forms must be submitted to the Returning Officer via email, or by returning the form to the school office before the nominations close.

Electoral Roll

A copy of the electoral roll is available for public inspection at the school office during normal school hours.

Eligibility

Anyone can stand for election to the board, except for some exclusions. If you are not on the voting roll you must be nominated by a person who is. Please check information on who is NOT eligible as you will be required to declare that none of these exclusions apply to you when you complete the nomination form. Information on who is NOT eligible to be a board member is included in the online nomination website or on page 2 of the nomination form.

Scrutineers

A candidate may nominate a person to sit with the returning officer during the vote count to make sure it is done correctly. Scrutineers are also required for electronic elections if a recount is needed. Please advise the returning officer in writing of your scrutineer's name and contact details before election day. Candidates cannot be scrutineers.

Note: This is the easiest way to complete your nomination. You can also provide your candidate statement and photo at the same time, rather than sending them separately.

2. Email - nominations@electionpilot.nz.

3. Hand Delivery - Delivered to the school office during usual school hours.

4. Post - Election Pilot, PO Box 414, Christchurch 8140, New Zealand.

The nomination form MUST reach us before nominations close, and any nomination forms that arrive after the close of nomination cannot be accepted. We strongly recommend submitting your nomination via your election link.
