Assistive Technology Service

Ko Taku Reo Assistive technology supplies hearing aid batteries and accessories, and funds the repair and service of hearing aids and remote microphone systems that have been funded by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education.*

*Excludes equipment provided for Central Auditory Processing Disorder as well as Implant Processors.

This fully-funded service is available for children between the ages of newborn and 18 years old. Students between the ages of 18 and 21 years will continue to be supported, provided they remain in full-time education.

Hearing aid batteries and accessories

Batteries are issued free of charge to all children under the age of 18 years old. Students up to the age of 21yrs old will also be supported for as long as they remain enrolled in full-time education. Funding will cease when the student leaves full time education or their 21st birthday, whichever comes first.

Hearing equipment repairs

Hearing equipment repairs are completed free of charge to all children under the age of 18 years old. Students up to the age of 21yrs old will also be supported for as long as they remain enrolled in full-time education. Funding will cease when the student leaves full-time education or their 21st birthday, whichever comes first.

Proof of eligibility may be requested by the Assistive Technology Co-Ordinator for any orders placed for students between the ages of 18-21.

Please note that Implant Processor batteries and repairs are not funded by Ko Taku Reo. Please contact your Audiologist to enquire around these devices.
