Student elections

Are you up for the job?

Providing Deaf Education Services in New Zealand is the responsibility of Ko Taku Reo - Deaf Education New Zealand, serving the whole of the country, and supporting over 3,000 Deaf and hard of hearing students.

The Board is made up of six parent representatives, a staff representative, two student representatives, and the Executive Principal.

During March, nominations will be invited for the election of two new student representatives to the Board who will attend Board meetings for 2026.

What does being a representative involve?

Being a representative is an important position that allows you the chance to have a say in how Deaf education in New Zealand is run.

There are eight meetings held each year, either face-to-face or on Zoom. Travel expenses are covered, and you will be paid to attend the meetings.

If selected as a student representative, you will receive advice and support to guide you in your role.
